Explain the importance of Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring and the resulting developments; include Earth Day, the Creation of the EPA and modern day environmental policy:

Rachael Carson was marine biologist who wrote a book called Silent Spring. Only few books written changed history and hers is one of them. Silent Springs showed the dangers of using chemicals such as pesticides(DDT) could have on the environment. Her book which was sold to millions, pressured legislative to pass laws limiting the amount of harmful gases we can release into the air.

 

Earth Day: is an annual event celebrated on April 22. Worldwide, various events are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First celebrated in 1970, Earth Day events in more than 193 countries are now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network.

NEPA: was the National Environmental Policy Act establishes the broad national framework for protecting our environment. EPA was established in December 1970 under United States President Richard Nixon. The EPA is an agency of the United States federal government whose mission is to protect human and environmental health. They’re in charge of  Audit Policy (April 2000) which safeguards by regulated entities to voluntarily discover and fix violations of federal environmental laws and regulations.

Reflection: Rachael may have been disliked by some fertilizing companies but she help save our environment from mass destruction and led us to restriction we have today, with the help of her our world is green.
